Vila Monte

A boho-chic resort sprawling over nine hectares of beautifully landscaped gardens in eastern Algarve. With two local-flavour restaurants, twin swimming pools, an abundance of inviting spots for lounging and sandy beaches nearby, it is the ideal place to immerse in the traditional Algarve lifestyle.

Surrounded by olive groves and orange trees, Vila Monte is a farmhouse-style boutique hotel in the old village of Moncarapacho, only 25km from Faro airport. The style is typically Algarvian, with terraces, stairways, and the region’s characteristic chimneys, while natural woods, and white tones dominate the décor creating bright, airy spaces with a rustic vibe.

The property is set on nine hectares of beautifully landscaped grounds, complete with a vegetable garden, aromatic plants, water reservoirs, and lots of peaceful spots to unwind and fully embrace the region’s slow pace of life. Facilities include two lovely swimming pools with 24-hour access sheltered amid the lush gardens (one is adult only), a gym, an outdoor cinema, a menu of signature massages and wellness treatments, and golf courses in the vicinity.

Food & Drink

À Terra offers all-day dining focused on homemade, rustic Portuguese cuisine. Dishes are prepared with locally sourced ingredients, some grown on the hotel’s grounds, mainly using a wood oven and the traditional Josper grill. The Chef’s Table outside, near the aromatic garden, is often used for cooking workshops and tasting events, and the restaurant also has its own grocery shop in the hotel’s lobby selling anything from local products, fine wines, and traditional cooking utensils.

A lovely corridor of orange trees takes guests to the other onsite restaurant, Laranjal. Open only for dinner, its dishes blend Portuguese traditions with Mediterranean influences and are served in a beautifully decorated dining room that spills out into a terrace overlooking the Algarvian coast. In the morning, the Laranjal doubles as a breakfast room, serving a delicious selection of local and international food options at any time of the day.

The terrace of the lobby bar is a prime spot to escape the heat with a refreshing cocktail, while two summer bars serve poolside lunches and drinks.

Rooms

Set across various buildings, rooms at Vila Monte are elegant in their simplicity, with white walls and tiled flooring. The décor nod to Algarvian craftsmanship, with such details like wicker chairs, wooden elements, baskets and local pottery, which infuse each room with a sense of place.

All rooms have flat-screen TVs, minibars, and coffee machines. Thoughtful details like umbrellas and wicker baskets for the beach complete with panama hats and pareo beach towels by the Portuguese brand Futah. Suites come with butler service, private terraces and gardens.

For extra space and privacy, the hotel also has a private house, Villa Indigo, which is ideal for families and groups of friends travelling together. It offers three suites, gardens, a private swimming pool, and butler service.

Staying in Olhão

Algarve is the southernmost region of Portugal and is blessed by glorious weather nearly all year round. Its coastline boasts picturesque fishing towns and beautiful beaches to suit every taste, including some of the best sports in the world to practice surf, while winding cycling and walking trails through valleys and uplands await visitors in its sparsely populated interior.

Every trip we take contributes to build our own life story.

A story that is a patchwork of encounters, experiences and memories made while traveling. And just like fabric scraps in a quilt, every trip we take, no matter how big or long, holds its own special place in our life and contributes to shape who we are.
