L’Andana – Tenuta La Badiola, Castiglione della Pescaia
L’Andana is a luxury resort in the heart of Tuscany’s Maremma natural park, only a quick drive away from the charming medieval town of Castiglione Della Pescaia and the Tyrrhenian Coast. It’s part of the 500-hectare La Badiola Estate, which once served as the summer residence of the Grand Duke of Tuscany Leopold II and his court.
The property has been extensively refurbished but retains all the grandeur of its past, skilfully blended with modern glamour. The earthy-toned interiors well reflect the beauty of their natural surroundings and boast exquisite Tuscan-style furnishing and precious Florentine fabrics. The main building, La Villa, has two wings connected by a charming winter garden with a light-flooded lobby and reception area.
Relaxation and wellbeing are the main focus, with a gorgeous 600-sqm spa by wellness brand ESPA. Inside, with fascinating ceiling vaults, natural materials, warm hues, and scented candles. The spa is equipped with a sauna, a calidarium, a vitality pool, an indoor pool, a fitness corner, and a relax area. On the menu is a wide range of face and body treatments, as well as ESPA signature treatments, which include massages with a blend of essential oils to boost the body’s immune system.
Available to guests are also two sparkling pools, tennis courts, a golf course, and bikes to explore the Maremma countryside on two wheels. What’s more, the hotel regularly organizes outdoor activities like Nordic Walking in the country, yoga, pilates, and horse riding.
Food & Drink
Two restaurants delight the palate of guests with great dishes and ambiance.
Michelin-starred La Trattoria Enrico Bartolini is located in the ancient granary and focuses on contemporary Tuscan cuisine based on seasonal local products. Guests dine in an elegant space with exposed bricks, cotto tile flooring, and large panoramic windows, with tables spilling out onto a lovely terrace for delightful al-fresco meals in the warm months. The open-plan cellar is incredibly well-stocked and boasts over 600 labels, including wines produced in the family vineyards.
Chef Bartolini and his crew are also responsible for the culinary offering of La Villa, the resort’s other restaurant. This is a cozy and informal space with a lovely stone fireplace and a charming veranda overlooking the park. The menu here combines flavors from the land and the sea, always with a nod to local tradition.
For those who’d like to make the most of the hotel’s beautiful natural setting, the chef can prepare gourmet hampers for a special picnic in the countryside or by the sea.
Breakfast is a serious affair at L’Andana, with a generous spread of hot pastries, fruit-bread, cheesecakes, Tuscan cold-cuts, delicious mozzarella, and seasonal vegetables. Yogurt and jams are all homemade, while eggs are cooked to order in a variety of styles.

L’Andana offers a variety of comfortable rooms and suites distributed between its two main buildings – La Villa and La Casa.
