Baglioni Resort Cala di Porto

Superb sea views, white beaches and authentic Italian charm make this elegant hotel in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma the perfect coastal escape. There are two restaurants, a private beach, a swimming pool, and refined rooms overlooking the sea and the pine forest.

Surrounded by white sandy beaches and sparkling waters, Baglioni Resort Cala del Porto is a chic coastal retreat with a prime position in the bay of Punta Ala, facing Elba Island and a couple of hours’ drive from Florence. It was the very first hotel of the Baglioni brand to open in 1974 and continues to enchant guests with its enduring charm.

The hotel boasts superb views of the bay and the marina, and the sea can be found in many small details across its chic interiors. There are attractive gardens with relaxed seatings and a large pool surrounded by magnificent pines and palm trees, with the backdrop of the sparkling sea. Guests also have free access to a fitness centre with floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows and can try to practice their swing on the 18-hole course of the highly praised Punta Ala Golf Club.

Food & Drink

The main Belvedere Restaurant is a fine-dining venue with a delightful menu created by resident chef Giuseppe Angelucci, who prepares Mediterranean-inspired daily menus where the flavours of the land and the sea are skilfully combined. Guests can dine indoors or in the beautiful Sunset Gourmet Terrace looking out onto the marina.
For something less formal, La Spiaggia Restaurant is a delightful venue with a relaxing sea-front atmosphere. The menu here is strong on fish and there’s an excellent wine list with both Italian and foreign labels. The restaurant’s cocktail bar is great for a sundowner by the sea.
There are also two bars to choose from – one indoor and one by the pool – to enjoy refreshing drinks throughout the day.

The hotel offers a selection of luxurious rooms and suites, most with a terrace or balcony and beautiful sea views. All are fresh and bright, with cheery pastel hues, striped wallpapers and large windows beautifully framing the sea and the Maremma landscape outside. Bathrooms are stocked with DELLALUNA amenities and suites also have Frette bathrobes. The top pick is the Panoramic Suite, with its splendid terrace overlooking the Tuscan archipelago and two spacious rooms with chic furnishing.

Staying in Punta Ala

Punta Ala sits on a little promontory in the Gulf of Follonica, right in front of the Elba island, which is only an hour ferry ride away. It’s renowned for its pristine beaches of fine sand lapped by turquoise waters and surrounded by a vast pine forest. It’s a great base for discovering the beauties of northern Maremma, such as Castiglione della Pescaia, Massa Marittima, and Le Biancane Nature Reserve.

Every trip we take contributes to build our own life story.

A story that is a patchwork of encounters, experiences and memories made while traveling. And just like fabric scraps in a quilt, every trip we take, no matter how big or long, holds its own special place in our life and contributes to shape who we are.
